A new community engagement initiative from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) aims to strengthen relationships between local youth and law enforcement.

The program, P.L.A.Y. (Police Leading Adventures for Youth), will bring officers and young community members together in a relaxed setting, helping to build trust, mutual respect and lasting connections beyond traditional policing.

The first P.L.A.Y. event, “Game with a Cop,” will take place at At Ease Games, 8400 Miramar Road #250, on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. Children and teens will have the opportunity to choose from a wide assortment of traditional board and tabletop role-playing games, such as Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering and Catan, to enjoy alongside SDPD officers.

By highlighting events like P.L.A.Y., SDPD hopes to showcase its ongoing commitment to community-oriented policing and youth outreach.
