Fly to the San Diego Public Library for Superhuman Comic-Con Programs

Don your capes and costumes, Comic-Con is back for 2025 and the San Diego Public Library (SDPL) has everything you need to get in the spirit. Pick up a limited-edition Comic-Con Library Card, fix costume malfunctions at the Central Library’s Cosplay Repair Station and learn about education through comics at the Comic-Con Conference for Educators and Librarians (CCEL) panels — all without spending a dime.
The 2025 Comic-Con Library Card was designed by oil painter Sarah Wilkinson, whose dream-based, surrealistic art captures the cross between imagination and reading. The limited-edition card will first be available at Comic-Con Preview Night, Wednesday, July 23, at the SDPL Booth (#5523) on the Convention Center floor. Fans of the artist can also have their card signed by Wilkinson at the SDPL Booth on Friday, July 25, at noon.
Beginning Thursday, July 24, all branch library locations will have the Comic-Con Library Card available for patrons to pick up. Signing up for a new card or replacing an old one is free through the month of July. Comic-Con Library Cards are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Cosplay Repair Station is also back with solutions to solve costume problems and create brand-new costume additions. Hosted in the IDEA Lab on the 4th floor of Central Library, the Cosplay Repair Station is stocked with sewing machines and supplies, 3D printers, adhesives, laser cutters and more to help cosplayers design new pieces or fix issues such as missing buttons and broken straps. Cosplay Repair Station hours are July 24, 25 and 26 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. No appointment is necessary.
SDPL’s partnership with Comic-Con International continues with Central Library hosting the 8th annual Comic-Con Conference for Educators and Librarians (CCEL) from July 23 to 27. The free, five-day conference is open to the public and will explore the role comics play in promoting education and literacy for all ages. Those in library and education fields are invited to learn exciting ways to incorporate comics and other popular arts into their work. Space is limited and registration is highly recommended.
